M2M from Columbus helps businesses keep track of their remote assets. Firstly, sensors and electronic devices are attached to a remote machine. This could be a vehicle, vending machine or building for example. Depending on the machine’s function, the sensor device captures relevant data, such as temperature, location or speed. This information is then transmitted wirelessly from a SIM integrated in the device to a server, where it is interpreted to provide useful management information. In response, messages can then be sent in the other direction to change the way the remote machine behaves to ensure it is working optimally at all times.
